The Rest is Up to YOU

Life is a journey. The trouble is many people have abandoned their dreams and are stranded on an island of despair. Many people have lost their drive and motivation to compete for their own victory. We have become a society of instant gratification and as a result have created a people that expects everything to be handed to them without hard work.  Where are your efforts being directed? To what gain is coming from you being so "busy"? What goals have you set for you and/or your family? You must know what they are in order to achieve them. What is the purpose of your life? What is the purpose of your journey?

There is a television show called the "Amazing Race" in which couples race around the globe, overcoming challenges, with a shared goal to be the ultimate winner of the race. Ultimately only one couple wins the final race, but here is the lesson in it all: everyone of them learns something about themselves. In most cases, they learn more about their relationship, whether they are a quitter, whether they have the drive, whether they take responsibility of themselves or simply blame everyone and everything else. In the end everyone learns more about themselves and ultimately, those lessons are greater than any money or prize that they may have won along the way.

The reality of life is that there will always be challenges and obstacles to overcome, but will you learn from them? Will you strive to overtake them instead of being stopped by them? Where are you with that important task, that big decision, that new project or that life changing venture? Are you stopped in your tracks? Are you defeated and immobilized? You may have your instructions and your directions planned out; you may be just starting to form them. You have to have the mind set of "If it's to BE, it's up to ME!" If you have someone to help you, great! But you have to have the mindset that you are person responsible to complete your task. The course is set, but only you can finish the race. The only way that you guarantee failure is to never start or to quit along the way.

Who are you running with? Are they running in the same direction as your goal? You may have to change who you spend most of your time with. Find people with common goals and learn from each other. Establish an accountability partner who will hold you up to the standards you set for yourself. Surround yourself with people that are smarter than you. If you are the smartest person in every club, group, activity, function, outling or project, then you are doing a great disservice to yourself.

Let these words be the fuel that helps drive you to your desired victory. The rest is up to you.

Redirect your Future!

Michigan's Unsheltered Homeless

In an USA Today poll titled "Should cities be able to force homeless people to go to a shelter?", it was not only disturbing that Michigan was 3rd among the highest states with unsheltered homeless, but it was the only "cold" state in the list.

California - 70%
Nevada - 62%
Michigan - 59%
Georgia - 58%
Florida - 57%

Should cities be able to force homeless people to go to a shelter? They should have enough shelters available to allow them reasonable accomidations. In a recent story, the homeless complained that most shelters in the city has simply some chairs and they would fight because you would lose your chair if you had to leave it to relieve yourself.

It is unbearable outside. To think that many have to live out there without shelter is unthinkable. My prayers go out to those to live in this situation as well as those who have to work outside in this weather as well.
